We stumbled on Chamizo just before heading to the Museum of Contemporary Art which is also worth a visit. Located in the apex of two streets just off one of the centro's plazas, Chamizo has indoor and outdoor seating which felt very European. For December, we couldn't believe the gorgeous weather so sat outside. We stopped in for just a local artesian beer but after we saw a few food items go by decided to also order food. We wanted Vegetarian which they had. Great food, location and dog friendly.

The owner speaks Spanish and English. He opened this Gastropub after recently returning to Mexico from years of working in restaurants in Barcelona. You can't go wrong here for a casual dining experience with great food!

Delicious breakfast. Good quality. Price affordable. Not far from Founders plaza and a Catholic church is nearby.

If there is a better cafe in Qeretaro, let me know.

Try the chilaquiles and the artisan soda they have there. It was such a delicacy, especially for breakfast.

Pet Friendly Tapas Restaurant
We discovered this restaurant last Saturday when we were taking a History Tour through Querétaro´s historic center. We walked by and said we would come back later to check it out. So glad we did! We arrived early evening and decided to sit inside. The place had a nice European ambiance, decorated with “Cyclist Jerseys” in dedication to the owner’s father. We were seated right away. The first thing we noticed was there were other dogs inside and outside on the patio. We were fortunate to have the owner/chef personally wait on us (along with his friendly dog by his side). The restaurant had a nice selection of wines from Baja California. I tried a wonderful sauvignon blanc from a small vineyard. The label was created by Bansky, the famous graffiti artist. Hubby tried a Baja California Cabernet Maqaarka that was very smooth and delicious.
We ordered items we were familiar with such as medallions of goat cheese with basil oil, basil on top of a tomato and chorizo in red wine reduction and fresh bread baked right there, lightly drizzled in oil. Both dishes were excellent! Then we were asked if would like try “something different and unique”. We did not hesitate and said “yes!” The next thing we knew he brought out croquets; which we’ve had before but these were special… they were made with tender little pork tails; a unique and pleasant flavor. Very nice! Then we were served tender boneless chicken giblets (neck) wonderfully seasoned and served on homemade toasted bread. Normally we would not order these items, so glad he made the suggestions. The owner spent a decade in Spain, bringing back a culinary education you get to experience right here in CHAMIZO! It was a memorable experience worth repeating.
This is a relaxed, friendly and welcoming place with indoor and patio seating. A great place to bring your furry friend, order a nice glass of wine and enjoy some real Spanish tapas, while taking in the ambiance of Querétaro.

Great Spanish exotic dishes, have been here twice, 5 stars for the food, atmosphere and the whole experience. I hope it last long the way it is, quiet and enjoyable. Congrats.

It's a nice location and probably very cool, but it's not Madrid.... and it's more like a "chapuza" than a "chamizo". The gambas (prawns) were overcooked and expensive. Croquettes were pretty decent. Red wine was o.k. Prices compare to u.s.a. but very expensive for Mexico. I think you could do better.
