A more local Mercado de La Cruz, Tepe is an open market covered by an architecturally stunning roof structure completed two years ago after the original market was destroyed by fire. The market spans out beyond onto multiple streets from the epicenter, and you can find everything - carnicerías, produce, a food court, clothes, artesanal goods, etc.

We LOVED this mercado, for years we shopped, ate, socialized here. It (was) burned down... new modern style looks out of place. Second floor dinning area makes it impossible for many people to use dat area.

A bit cahotic and noisy, but this adds also to the experience, you can find a great deal of stuff....and junk if you are into that.

Is a shame because of an accident got burned down, they are doing the demolition now. Will take years for it to recover it's former "glory"
