Horror house in shambles. If you want to spend extra money and stay in a construction site, stay here. I was horrified to find out that the hotel was half torn-down and that my room was in a bad shape and smelled like mold. Your window is in a full view of construction garbage. I'm pretty low maintenance. I wasn't expecting a 4 or 5 star hotel. But for the price I paid per night and glowing reviews I've read, it just didn't make any sense. I've stayed at Hotel Pasada de Roger and Hotel Rio Malecon, both of which were CHEAPER and thousand times BETTER than this horror house. Hotel Eloisa and Hotel Encino looked like better options too.
I feel bad for leaving a bad review because the staffs were incredibly nice and sympathetic. Unfortunately, they were incompetent. They didn't know how to handle this kind of situation. I immediately voiced my concern, but the staff didn't know what to do. Later that night, a manager agreed to let me cancel the rest of the stay. To my surprise, he said he didn't know how to reverse a credit card transaction, and he'll be charging me 20% tax on the nights I cancelled. He said he didn't know how to refund the tax so he'll be charging me. It just baffled me, but whatever. I just wanted to get out of this horror house as soon as possible.

I enjoyed my stay at Hortencia Hotel very much! It's a nice, friendly and centric place to be able to see main places in Vallarta! I would stay again with no doubt, the view of town is majestic, one can see a gorgeous view from the upper floors while contemplating the traditional church clock of a town full of magic making you feel a sensation of going back in time, visit Hortencia soon! You will be tempted to comeback! (:

This place is just amazing!
People here is more than just the average hosts, they offer any help or support you could need during your staying. So, if you have any question, let them know and gladly they will help you as much as possible.

Also is in the heart of the romantic zone, so you have everything close, bars, restaurants, beach, banks, etc.

Know in advance that there’s construction across the street. It will most likely be under way for the next 6 months (march 2019 now). So there’s a lot of noise from early in the morning til late afternoon. A large condo tower will be built next to it shortly. There’s a « cantina » bar next to the hotel that plays Mexican music from midday to midnight. Somewhat annoying when you want to take a nap. There’s a rooster nearby which does know day from night. The internet does not work everywhere. Had to leave my room (front of hotel) to go on line. Low price. Located in city center. Next to restaurants, bus stop. 4 blocks from beach.

This is a small, simple hotel with a wonderful staff in a great part of town. There's a lovely courtyard and a beautiful view from the roof. I highly recommend it!

The hotel is simple and basic . Be aware ther is additional fee per person over 2 on the room . The area is very busy close to the playa los muertos and the rainbow area
