There are so many reasons why this is a great place to stay but perhaps the most important is how clean it is! The rooms are very clean! The hotel itself is great. Lots of open courtyards and terraces, corridors leading to new sections, and comfortable, quiet places to hang out. The food is good and so is the service. Daniel was our favorite server. And did I mention it was clean! The hallways, the tables, the rooms, etc. were all so nice and clean!

The service was great, the room was clean, the hotel is beautiful and very well situated. The bar is well stocked and the food is not bad, but venture out in town to find the best stuff.

The elevators were out of order (all of them) during our stay and we had a 2nd floor room with a baby in a stroller...so that was tough, BUT...everything else was on point.

One other thing I'll mention...when we arrived we had already had a long day of travel and we were all exhausted. My Wife is from Puebla and fluent in Spanish of course, so this must just be their policy, not like they were attempting to take advantage of me, but upon check in they asked if I'd like to put some money from my AMEX on hold for incidentals. That sounded like a good idea, don't have to worry about paying for each drink and room service item, just charge it to the room. They asked if they could hold $2,000, and I was thinking pesos so I agreed. I later realized it was USD. No worries, we only used $200 USD and the rest went back to the card, but that did seem a little odd to ask to put so much on the card.

Great looking hotel inside. It has a mission style look to it because it used to be a nun convent at one point in time. The rooms are renovated with a modern twist as in the lighting, A/C, and bathroom fixtures. Breakfast was healthy and well prepared with all the essentials for an appetizing breakfast. My only complaint would be the lack of handicap ramps on the first floor and the steps that could lead to a sudden drop if you're not paying attention.

The hotel has an excellent location, right in the heart of Puebla. The flair and general hacienda atmosphere of the hotel is incredible. Nevertheless, the cover of a book does not tell all the story.
- Do not take a room with a window towards the (main) street. The windows do not close tightly and the noise is unbearable at night.
- The water take way too long (5 minutes running) to get warm.
- There are necessary maintenance work to be done (our shower head was hanging loose off the wall)
- The Wifi availability and reach is a catastrophe.

I made the hotel management aware of these mishaps, but sadly the response was rather superficial. A real shame since we looked forward to our visit after almost 2 years due to the pandemic.

Ok, run, do not walk, to stay in this 5 star value, because if the owners ever figure out what a jewel they have here--and run it accordingly--the prices would justifiably triple.

This is a character-packed big-deal hotel housed in a 1593 former convent.  The centerpiece of the property is a grand arched courtyard, with a few smaller courtyards in colonnades to the back and sides.  Though my room was small (and I trust others are well), the fundamentals are very good.  Other reviews complained about noise and beds, but mine was quiet (yeah, nearby church bells will wake you up at 830a, but seems unholy to complain about that in an old nunnery) and the shower was heavenly.  And the hotel screams history.

At about $50 a night, such a value.  And that is the context for my positive review.  That said, at times, looks like the owners have given up on making this the top hotel in town, which it could be.  A place so rich in heritage deserves greater attention to detail.

To wit:  The elevator is broken.  Boarded over in fact.  The hotel has four floors, so woe to the Olympians who get to climb to the third and fourth level's rooms, especially with Puebla's altitude (higher in fact than Denver's).  Pant.

That gorgeous central courtyard houses the restaurant, and while such a setting could frame an excellent restaurant, not here not yet.  Instead, a few mostly hotel guests endure Dennys-calibre paper placemats, really uncomfortable chairs whose meager cushions need replacing, mimeo menus in worn Staples report sheaths, and well meaning servers who could be coached on better service.  At times, not a paying soul inhabits these seats.  At 7p, a lonely pianist played to no one.

Rooms could use an enhancement or two, as well.  Outlets are few and inconvenient:   Especially galling to have to charge your phone on the other side of the room from your bed.  Coffee makers anyone?  Or at least morning coffee and tea service set up in the courtyard?

There is a sign for the gym, but it is padlocked and grim now.

For now, this is a quirky pile of beautiful history with a great location (the Zocalo and cathedral are two blocks away, Museo Amparo is just a block).  But, oh what a hotel this could be with a little fine tuning!

The hotel is located two blocks away from the Cathedral. It is very well conserved and beautiful. Attention and personnel are exceptional, friendly, and attentive. Food is great and you can buy a little bag of mole as a nice gift. They gave me an upgrade and the room was absolutely good!

Hotel is perfectly located in the city center. It's architecture is beautiful and overall a nice hotel, however I can't conceive that it appears as a 5 star hotel when it clearly needs some maintenance and even the room's shower was very moldy.
