Best sushi I have had in Mexico by a mile. Rivals some of the best omakase restaurants in NY.

No frills in terms of interaction with the sushiya, but they are laser focused on serving you an impeccable meal from start to end. Small, but nice sake selection as well.

I'm a Japanese food enthusiast that regularly goes to Japan to done at some of the most awesome restaurants in the country.

When my friend made a reservation here for a catch-up dinner I had no idea what to expect, but left a very happy man.

The service was intimate (just the sushi bar), and the service was excellent. We did the full omakase course, and spent over three hours enjoying the sushi and a few bottles of sake and shochu.

The chef has been in the industry 35 years, and has worked in Japan, the US, and Mexico. Accordingly, he speaks Japanese, Spanish, and English fluently. An interesting guy to get to know during your experience.

It's not cheap, but for the quality and experience it's a good investment imho.

I'll be back.

Most authentic omakase in CDMX!

The restaurant only has about 8 - 10 seats, so reservation is needed. Upon entering, there is a slight smell of fried food since it’s an open kitchen in a small space, but not overpowering.

The dinner omakase menu is priced at 2,000 mxn per person, which I think is reasonable for the quality u0026 quantity of food. Their drink menu is extensive with a great selection of sake.

The only dish that I personally did not enjoy was the chawanmushi. It was a more Mexican fusion take on the dish, whereas I prefer the traditional silky steamed egg.

Everything else is on point - from the fresh seafood, amazing sushi rice, to homemade dessert. Would love to come back on a weekday when they offer ala carte menu.

The service is attentive and personable. This place is celiac-friendly! They are knowledgeable about gluten-free requirements, and very kindly u0026 carefully replaced dishes that contain gluten (since we cannot have tempura, soy-sauce marinated fish u0026 miso soup) and provided gluten-free soy sauce.

We had a great time getting to know the chef as well. A wonderful dining experience that will make you want to return often.

A delicate, refined and peaceful dining experience. The fish was just divine - esp the tuna and scallop - and it was just a well-paced omakase. Staff was really personable.

An Executive Chef's review of SUSHI KYO.

How to begin...part of my training was in Tokyo Japan. From my years in Japan, one of the cornerstones you learn, is a sensibility between, the mind, the heart, the hand, and the food. Chef Aoki has accomplished this with his omakase set menu. You are offered two options, Omakase A $1,500, u0026 Omakase B $2,000.

We selected option B by chefs recommendation. I will not go into detail plate by plate, that is not what this review is about, furthermore the plates change frequently, based on season and availability.

Chef Aoki uses providers that practice sustainable fishing, which is a must in todays world. This care in choosing a good provider is reflected in each plate, which is prepared with care and over the watchful eye of Chef Aoki.

The flavors start delicate, and over the night, ever so slowly build in complexity but maintain a balanced approach. All the flavors are authentic and true to a Japanese pallet.

The timing between plates is perfect, creating a relaxed Omakase set, that finishes as smoothly as it started.

So many other Japanese restaurants in the city that offer Omakase, like Rokai u0026 Hiyoko, are still trying to master this timing.

In closing, I highly recommend Sushi Kyo.
Reservations are a must, seating is limited to 12.

The space is very clean and you are surrounded by a very ordered environment. You feel centered and relaxed, and the seating is comfortable.
The staff is efficient, and attentive to all your needs.

Was impressed with the Omakase here. Some of the items had a slight Mexican flair, which I thought was cool. Great sake options as well.
