Big selection of homeware and animals.
Unfortunately, the animals are all pent-up in small cages u0026 even the cutest pet babies may have a harsh time living here...

Known as the place to buy supplies and ingredients for the practice of Santaria, the Mercado Sonora is also a great place to see a slice of local life.

Arguably the weirdest place I have ever been to. You can literally anything and everything you can imagine, from live crocodile to voodoo dolls, from garlic strings to dried snake! Nonetheless, the place is a bit shady and vendors can get kinda aggressive if they realise you are a foreigner. Nonetheless, this is a must visit in CDMX.

Large market mainly full of tourist junk. No real vegetable or produce. There is an interesting section selling animals of all sorts. Suspect not all legal but interesting to wander through. Was drawn by reviews of magic and occult sections. Overrated but interesting. Lots of medicinal and herbs. For the most part vendors are friendly. Found that most won't haggle on prices that are high. 200 pesos for a witch doll. No one would bargain it down except at 1 stall and bought several for 100 each. Worth a visit, but a bit of a zoo.

This is a place of wonderful and amazing Mexico. The food, herbs, remedies and Mexican art is vibrant, colourful and amazingly warmth - a true representation of magical Mexico. Its people are helpful, hard working and honest. Will definitely go back. ???????? XXXOOO
