I am writing this in August of 2022. I was staying at this hotel in March 2020, and had to pre-purchase ten days at the hotel. Well during my stay there, the pandemic happened. On Tuesday, March 17th, we were told by the US Consulate that it is in our best interests to return to America. I explained this to the hotel, who assured me that our remaining 5 days would be safe and could be used in the future.
Fast forward to July 2022, two years later, my fiancee and I were finally able to return safely to Mexico City, and arranged a flight in October. I contacted the hotel and reminded them of the arrangement and promise from the manager. We should have known, but the hotel had no recollection of this, and claimed they had new management, and nothing about this on file. I even have a receipt of my stay there (and still do, including booking and reference numbers, and this is THEIR E-MAIL SENT TO ME FROM THEIR ACCOUNT) , but the hotel asked me to give the full credit card used at the time (which has since been discontinued and the credit card company only keeps records going back two years). The hotel has not been willing to work with me in any way, shape, or form.
We enjoyed our stay there, the breakfast was amazing, and the way the staff treated us was great. But it really is disgusting to take advantage of two Americans who did exactly what the consulate told us to do during a worldwide pandemic
