One of the famous tacos in Mexico are the “Tacos al Pastor”, which I use to have when I was studying in Mexico, more than 40 years ago. You would go to a small an humble restaurant where they would have a similar grill used to prepare Doner Kebab with a vertical burner, but using pork macerated on many spices, chiles and herbs. On top over the grill a pineapple. The cook would take a piece of paper, a corn tortilla, and with a large knife he would cut the pork over the tortilla, finally with a swing of the knife, he could cut a piece of the pineapple, capturing in the air with the tortilla and pork, he would add chipped onions and herbs, placing all on a cheap plastic dish. You could order as many tacos as you wanted. When finished they would count the number of papers where the tortilla was laid, giving the final charge that you would pay in cash.

Today, there are many restaurants that serve tacos, some fancier than the others, being one of the “La Casa del Pastor”, you can order as many as you want, but now instead of papers you have a computer.

To my surprise, they now have “Taco al Pastor Negro” (black), has the same process, but instead of pork they un cow meat (“Arrachera”). It is a highly recommended dish.

Those mouth watering pics of the Al pastor tacos are for real. It’s upsetting that one of their delicious al pastor tacos is the same price as a Taco Bell one.

A restaurant taco spot (rather than a small stall/shop) - had the el pastor which was tasty but the margaritas were sub par.

My very first dinner in Mexico City!
You need internet to check the menu from the QR code. Not sure if they have English menu but order from the pictures on google map and you won’t fail to get the best tacos!

I had hibiscus tea (cold) and was very sweet.

Food in awesome, many great hot salsas Servers are awesome, friendly and fast.

The place is very well run. The blackened pastor tacos are the specialty and they are amazing.

I love coming here when in CDMX.

The food here is so good and it's open late. I believe they serve until midnight. It's great post hangover or if you just got in. Its a really safe neighborhood to walk around in even at night.

Really good tacos. The chicken is soft and fresh, so are the rest of the options. Good tamarind drink. Really friendly personnel, even though they didn't speak English they offered a menu in English and everything worked out. The place is big enough to accommodate large groups of people.
