The Victorian home is beautiful, but not the most conducive place for a jazz night as only the "living room" people who have made table reservations (there are only 4/5 tables) have access to/view of the band. Everyone else sits in separate rooms where you can hear the band, but not see them.
There is a 150 pesos/person entrance fee, which makes sense if the band is performing, but I arrived at 7:30pm and the band only starts playing at 9:30pm. Also, the tip charge is applied to the 150 pesos since it is added to your final bill.
The cocktails were good, but the tapas was pretty mediocre. The potatoes cold and chewy, the bread mildly stale. It's defintiely bar food, just not ~good~ bar food.
Perfect spot for couples looking for a dim first date location - the dark orange lighting and the alcohol makes everyone look incredible, and the acoustics are loud enough to drown out everyone else's conversations, yet soft enough for you to hear your partner speak.
The staff are incredibly lovely, but that's more a testament to Mexico than it is to this bar in particular.
I'd recommend coming after 9:30pm if you want the ideal experience of this place. Have dinner elsewhere, reserve a table in the "living room", and enjoy after dinner cocktails with your date.
