Alamo Rent A Car

Terrible.
I ordered a car through carrentals.com at about 11:00 to be ready at 11:30 for only 4 hours. The order was accepted by the app and Alamo.

When I arrived at 11:30 the car wasn't ready. I had to wait for 1 hour, since the owner said the car is "ready soon".

Then, I received a completely different car. Even if it was in a good condition (which it wasn't) it would be inferior to what I paid. The car had damages all over it. The engine was making loud noise and the brakes had noises.

Additionally, there are hidden costs:
if you pay for a full insurance through carrentals.com app, you also need Alamo insurance.
I also needed a deposit of 15,000 MXN (which you should get back), but it wasn't mentioned in the app.

I decided to not drive out of the dealership and returned the car on the spot after waiting for an hour. Alamo returned the deposit money but now I have to chase carrentals.com to give me a full refund, since they only paid a part of it.

My suggestion is to completely stay away from this dealership. Even if I was taking the car out, I couldn't feel comfortable because if its condition, should the owner later blame it on me.

One star because I cant leave zero. Made a reservation directly theough their website but was told there were no cars available, setting me back for hours while I found another vehicle. DO NOT RENT HERE!!!! (you have been warned). Two thumbs down.

We were a bit skeptical in renting a car from here because of some negative reviews, however, we had an overall pleasant experience. To be safe, I read the entire contract word for word, we took video of the entire car, inside and out, before taking it and again when we returned it. I recommend doing this as well if you're going to rent from here. We rented a car at a fair price, had total coverage insurance (100% recommended so you're not charged for a small scratch or something super minimal), and it was a simple process. I received my money on my credit card back within 24 hours. I would rent from them again.

Second time coming here. Reservation through discovercars.com, first time renting we had no problems but the second time the rude lady at the reception wanted an additional security hold for 2500,-€. She couldn't explain why other than the New Year's holiday causing this. Absolutely incompetent and I will never rent from Alamo in Mexico again!

Don’t make the mistake of renting from Alamo even from another platform. We had a reservation through Expedia, when we showed up there, they didn’t honour our reservation at all. They had already rented the car we had reserved, They gave us a rate that was 3 times what we had reserved for and they also wanted to charge insurance that is way more than advertised. Stay the hell away from these fraudulent people.

Do not rent from this location!!! They are scam artists trying to shake you down for bs insurance and exorbitant deposit money!!! They wait until you arrive there to inform you so that you feel pressured enough that you capitulate!!! They almost ruined our trip but thankfully we found a MUCH better car rental co that was fair and reasonable. So, do not even think of renting here unless you are ok paying gross, overpriced, unnecessary insurance and crazy deposit of over $1500 dollars for a small economy class car. Can't even contemplate what is would be for a regular sized or large car...

Scheduled rental from downtown location since I did not want to go to the airport for a car. I did everything on line. I tried to call several times to make sure they would have my vehicle at the downtown location but no one answers the phone. I received an e-mail that told me to go to a different location for the car pickup 10 minutes away from downtown location. I go to this location and find out Alamo left this location years ago but still has this location listed on reservation as pickup point (Niños Héroes). So I go to downtown office on (ave vallarta). They find my reservation but do not have my car. I told them I had called several times over several day but no one answers. The number provided online goes to the office and not the front desk. This is reason no one answered. They did nothing to help. They did not call airport to have car sent over, they did nothing. I went back to original pickup location since there were several independent rental agencies there and got same style for 1/2 the price after insurance.
